Warburton Film Festival - 'Forgotten' wins Best Short Film for 2022

Held annually in June, the Warburton Film Festival showcases a diverse range of Australian and international films in the beautiful Yarra Ranges just outside of Melbourne. For almost four decades the festival has provided a winter feast of films in the cosy Mecca Theatre, Arts Centre, Warburton on the 17th, 18th and 19th of June.

Showcasing emerging Australian filmmakers, Show Us Your Shorts represents the best entries from around Australia. Throughout the festival, a short film from this program will screen prior to each feature, with Forgotten introducing Petit Maman on Sunday June 19th.

Sponsored by The Yarra Ranges Film Society, the Warburton Film Festival is part of their objective to promote cinema as an art form in the Yarra Ranges area through regular screenings of quality films in local venues, as well as special events.

This year, I was honoured to be awarded the Golden Shorts Award for Best Short Film for 2022. The recognition from the jury and festival attendees of the emotion conveyed in Forgotten, as well as their appreciation of my approach to the animation both in concept and style was wonderful to receive.

Thank you to the Yarra Ranges Film Society, with special mention to Laurie Hastings and Maggie Sail, the Warburton community and all the selected filmmakers.
