Darwin International Film Festival - 'Tortoise' Official Selection
'Tortoise' has been selected for the 2026 Darwin International Film Festival (DIFF), marking another Australian festival screening following premieres at the Melbourne International Animation Festival and Les Sommets du cinéma d’animation in Canada.
Now in its 17th year, the Darwin International Film Festival runs from 10–20 September 2026, bringing together Australian and international cinema across 11 days of screenings, special events and filmmaker experiences. This year’s program features more than 70 short films and 24 feature films from over 30 countries, with screenings taking place across Darwin, including at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) and the iconic Deckchair Cinema.
'Tortoise' will screen as part of Animated Shorts, a new DIFF program for 2026 showcasing animated short films from Australia and around the world, at MAGNT on Sunday 13 September at 11:00am.
Through hand-drawn animation and watercolour, 'Tortoise' explores vulnerability, expectation, and significance in ordinary moments.
