Mawrgan Shaw is an Australian-Canadian visual artist and independent animator. Earning a Masters of Digital Film from Deakin University and a Bachelor of Media & Communications from Swinburne University of Technology, Mawrgan is a member of the Toronto Animated Image Society in Canada and a contributor to the collective 54th Story in Australia.

Mawrgan creates 2D frame-by-frame animation that is inspired by our sense of self and the intersection with our physical reality. Using both traditional and digital media, she continues to explore these themes, while focusing on how starting in childhood and beyond, we make meaning in the world.

Mawrgan's most recent short animated film, 'Forgottenwon Best Short Film at the Warburton Film Festival (2022), Favourite Canadian Short at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival (2021), was nominated for Best Animation at the St Kilda Film Festival (2022), and was selected to be shown in Best of the OIAF Canadian showcase at the Ottawa International Animation Festival (2021).
